General Frequently Asked Questions about Used Wheelchair Lifts
Q: Can I use the same lift for my chair and scooter?
A: You can use an AL300 to lift both a scooter and a chair.
Q: Is there any maintenance required for lifts?
A: The only maintenance needed is WD40 on all moving parts once every few months.
Q: How do I know which lift to get for my chair or scooter?
A: Talk to a technician about which lift is right for you and your power chair or scooter. You can also use Harmar’s Compatibility Calculator on Harmar’s website for a more detailed comparison and lift compatibility check.
Q: Can the lift be powered by my existing trailer plug?
A: No, lifts must be powered by a separate electrical harness that attaches directly to the car battery.
Q: Will I still be able to use my backup camera?
A: If you’re getting an outside lift that sits on the back of your vehicle then the camera will be obstructed.
Q: Can I use the swing-away feature while my chair or scooter is still on the lift?
A: You should not swing your lift away while the chair is still on it. It will put too much pressure on the swing away.
Q: What kind of hitch do I need on my vehicle to support the lift?
A: You will either need a Class 3 or Class 2 hitch.
