Marc's Mobility sells a variety of different types of batteries for electric wheelchairs. If you re not sure whether the replacement storage cells for electric wheelchairs are compatible with your mobility device, give us a call and we ll help you figure it out.

How Long Does an Electric Wheelchair Battery Last?

Marc's Mobility carries a collection of quality and affordably priced batteries for power wheelchairs and universal accumulators.

In general, it is important to charge your power wheelchair batteries overnight for optimal performance.

Standard batteries will equip mobility devices with the power and speed to go up to 5-8 miles an hour, depending on the make and model of the power wheelchair or scooter. The batteries should be able to last for a long time, depending on whether the storage cell was successfully charged prior to use.

Be sure to check the instruction manual accompanied with your power wheelchair to confirm whether the batteries will be compatible. As best practice, remember to avoid exposing your wheelchair accumulators to harsh weather conditions and temperatures, and be sure to maintain and clean your mobility device and battery on a regular basis to avoid any damages or dust accumulating.

Here at Marc's Mobility, we typically carry wheelchair batteries that include an amp of 12 volt and 24 volt. For a 12-volt battery, this means the battery comes as an accumulator of six cells.

How do you charge a wheelchair battery?

Over time and with frequent use, accumulators will eventually need to be replaced. For instance, a power wheelchair battery that has been used for over a year may start to lose the amp or the energy it originally had to run your mobility device.

The answer for how long to charge a wheelchair battery could vary, however, depending on how frequently you use your power wheelchair or the type of terrain you usually use it on.

The less use, the less likely you ll have to replace accumulator for electric wheelchairs or frequently charge. Although, it is also a good habit to make sure that there is no spillage of batteries from overexposure or other possible hazards.

How Often Should I Charge my Power Wheelchair?

As common practice, if you think you ll be using your power wheelchair on a daily basis, that means you should probably charge your battery on a daily basis to avoid having it slow down in the middle of a drive. A full charge will keep your mobility device moving with ease. But also be careful not to overcharge it if it has enough of a full day charge to keep your mobility device going. Many accumulators will often need at least 8 hours to receive a full charge.

In general, lead-acid accumulators are the standard preferred type of batteries, though there are also universal storage cells to consider as well. Lead acid batteries were the first type of rechargeable batteries for commercial use. In fact, the global automotive lead acid storage cell market is projected to grow in the years to come. The lead acid battery is made up of plates, lead, and lead oxide and other solutions.

When you start to notice less speed or overheating, it is time to replace your wheelchair accumulators for safety reasons and efficiency.

All in all, we are excited to help you find the right batteries for electric wheelchairs compatible with your mobility device. Thank you for choosing us to help you with your mobility needs!

If you are not 100% sure of battery size needed, call with the make, model and year of scooter and I can match them up for you. *Batteries can only be returned if defective and will be replaced. No refunds.

How much does an electric wheelchair cost?

An electric wheelchair typically ranges in cost, depending on whether you are buying a secondhand, used mobility device or a brand new one from the brand itself.

In general, the standard cost for electric wheelchairs can range anywhere between $1,200 and upwards of about $6,000+. At Marcs Mobility, we work hard to create an affordable installation payment plan that works for you, while providing quality wheelchairs like Pride Mobility or Golden Technologies, at discounted prices. When comparing batteries for Jazzy Wheelchairs, for instance, check to see if the instruction manual suggests particular batteries.
