How to Lock and Unlock a VSI Joystick
The VSI joystick is commonly found on another chairs like Pride jazzy carbon. To lock and unlock it, read the directions below:
- To lock your joystick: First, press the power button to turn it on. Once your power is on, you `re going to hold the power button down for 1 to 2 seconds until you hear a beep. Then, push the joystick forward until you hear another beep, and then in reverse until you hear another. It will then make a loud beep before turning off. You`ll then turn it back on, and will see the lights above the power button begin to scroll back and forth. This means it`s in the lock position.

VSI Fault Codes and What They Mean
With the VSI joystick, the fault codes are all based on the bar of lights above the power button. There are 3 red lights, 4 yellow lights, and 3 green lights. When they flash, however, many total lights are flashing will be what the fault code is.
Example: When you place your chair in neutral, for example, You`ll see that 9 lights will start to flash. This means that your park breaks have a bad connection, meaning you could have bad park breaks. When your chair is in neutral, You`ll want to put it back into gear. You`ll always need to turn the power off, and then turn it back on to reset it.
Let`s take a look at what other flashing lights mean on a VSI joystick:
- If you have 1 flashing light it typically means your batteries are low and will need to be replaced.
- If you have 2 flashing lights your left motor has a bad connection, so You`ll want to check to make sure your motor is plugged in and that the connection is not corroded.
- If you have 3 flashing lights you have a short circuit, so most likely it will have to be replaced.
- 4 is a bad right motor connection, so you want to check it to make sure there`s no corrosion and to make sure it`s plugged in.
- 5 means the motor has a short, so You`ll most likely have to replace the right motor.
- 7 flashing lights mean it`s a bad joystick. The brainbox is integrated into it, so if you have 8 flashing lights it`s telling you that you have a bad brainbox (or control box) – and regardless You`ll have to replace it.
- 9 flashing lights, in the example, means you have bad park breaks.
- 10 is very rare and you rarely ever see it, but it means that you have excess voltage applied to the controller.
